Transparency

socks.cat publishes a warrant canary and transparency report so you can verify we have not received gagged legal orders or taken certain actions against the service.

Where to look

• Human hub: /transparency — never-done attestations, request counts, verification steps
• Signed statement: /.well-known/canary.txt — PGP clearsigned, updated quarterly
• Public keys: /.well-known/pgp-key.txt (signatures), /.well-known/age-key.txt (encrypted mail to security@router.sex)
• Security contact: /.well-known/security.txt

How to verify

1. Import our PGP public key.
2. Download the current canary.txt and run gpg --verify.
3. Read the signed date and expiry (valid ~90 days).
4. Confirm Bitcoin and Monero block height/hash anchors against public chain data — they prove the statement was written after those blocks.

If updates stop

If the canary is not replaced within 95 days of the date inside the signed message, treat that as a possible signal that a gagged legal process was received.

Limitations

PGP proves the file was signed by our key, not that we were not coerced into signing a false statement.
